Thursday 18 October - Gourmet Ghetto Food Tour
Painted Ladies
The birthplace of California Cuisine and farm-to-table eating, North Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto is home to both long-established culinary icons and emerging edible enterprises. Alice Waters’ Chez Panisse made this neighborhood world-famous since the 1970s.

Today, this food-focused area is still committed to serving some of the nation's best seasonal, organic fare and it continues to abide by sustainable business practices that benefit farmers, restaurant workers, and the food system.

Knowledgeable guides will lead you to the neighborhood’s iconic destinations, such as the Jewish deli and restaurant, Saul’s, for house made pastrami sandwiches and artisan soda. You’ll visit the Peet’s Coffee flagship location, sample pizza-of-the-day and gourmet cheese from the historic The Cheese Board Collective, learn about sustainable whole-animal butchery from The Local Butcher Shop, and more.

All stops are subject to change. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice.
